![]() The box does the job, and does it well Easy to clean, and has lasted many uses. ![]() I’ve had the machine, and box, for at least a year. This is just a decarb box that you stick in the oven to contain the smell. I am personally a person who prefers higher PG liquids, but that is just me. Just to be clear, not the magic butter machine. that is why they have suggested lectin and fats (butter, oil etc) to get them to bind. Magical Butter sells a Decarb Box you can use, but unfortunately, it is not part of the package. It is very difficult to properly emulsify thc, oil, hash etc into a ecig mix. The main issue here is one of emulsification. Although the thermometer is useless out of the box, it was wise for Magical Butter to include one with the DecarBox because oven calibration can greatly help to ensure that you get the same results from the decarb process every time. I have seen data to suggest that at those temps, it could be cancer causing. On the flip side, I am seeing many new reports of issues with VG being vaped at high temps as some people are doing. It is also in about a billion products we use daily and I believe it could actually have some nice health benefits. People naturally assume that VG because it is vegetable based is better than PG which as has been stated is a ingredient that people say is used to make unit-freeze. ![]() Here is the most important part of what I would like to say. I do believe this does happen, but not as often as people believe. In recent times, the large clouds have been trendy and so there is a lot of higher VG juices being made.Īlso, and I frankly think a lot of this is BS, but people swear they will be allergic to PG. It used to be that most companies would do a 70/30 PG/VG mix. PG generally delivers flavor and increases the throat hit. VG is the ingredient responsible for creating "clouds" but the throat hit will be less. Here are some basic things you need to know. Zonda, I am a long time ecig user so I have a lot of experience with making juices. Our experience with the DecarBox, however, was sorely lacking. Nothing some scrubbing bubbles couldn't handle but I can see that turning off some people, lol. On the surface, you’d think that a sturdy silicone box would make the decarb process easy and fun. It looked like I had a green butter ring around it. I walk in and he's sitting there with a shit eating grin on his face and says "this stuff is pretty great." His pain was gone and I suspect he had a bit of a buzz going. After a half hour, I thought I'd better go check on him. I figured he might stay in there for 10 minutes or so. But he had some sore muscles and was game. Let me preface this by saying he is a non user, very hyper and never has the patience for a bath. ![]() On another note, my husband agreed to be a guinea pig for my bath soak. Thinking about trying to make some tootsie rolls. ![]() I made some butter using the crock pot method, but my crock pot runs way too hot. I'm going to do a butter run this weekend. This is something I haven't tried yet and I think it could be a real winner if it works. If we disregard ease of use, what do you think about people who claim that the magic butter machine does a better job of infusing? I don’t really understand the mechanism behind why it supposedly does a better job, and I usually don’t see people elaborating.I'm really excited about your experiment t-dub. What do you mean by reduction? If you want to make a more potent tincture, don’t you just use less oil? Or is there something else you have to do to increase potency? Although the one extra step of having to remove the jar and let it cool after decarbing and before adding the oil does sound a little annoying, I’ll gladly take it if it means I get more control over quantities and get to save some money. The tutorials I’ve seen (for making tinctures) usually say to decarb in a mason jar first (aka, essentially just bake the flower in the instant pot? Adding some water into the instant pot to create a water bath), remove the mason jar and let it cool, open the jar and add your oil of choice, and then return the jar with oil to the instant pot to cook one more time. I’m a total newbie, so sorry if I say anything dumb. ![]()
